Hereditary Blues
24 x 36”
Letters, pastel, acrylic, sharpie and paper on canvas
A nod to hereditary trauma beginning with the objectification and sexualizing of the mother thus her trying to protect the daughter from the same fate.
The daughter (as an adult) and ancestors watch in pain as the cycle seems to perpetuate, but there is hope as the daughter is regurgitating what the mothers deems essential for survival but will ultimately hold the daughter back.
